Oops!...I Made It A 10

The Husband and I set out to run 6 miles tonight. Somewhere after Mile 1, we started talking about our plans for the upcoming weekend and how hard it was going to be to cram in a long run with everything going on.  Then The Husband said, "Wouldn't it be awesome if we could get the long run out of the way tonight?"  I agreed that it would be nice, but wasn't sure I really had the juice to go much more than 6 or 7. I haven't gone anywhere near double digits since Fox Cities last fall.

As it turns out, I had the juice.  We took it (really) slow, stopped for water and a little fuel (Gummy Bears make an excellent substitute for GU gel), and made it a solid 10 miles!  I was particularly impressed when we threw down a 9:38 mile at Mile 9.

Distance: 10.01 Miles
Time: 1:48:08
Avg. Pace: 10:48

I have no doubt that I'm going to be feeling every one of those 10 miles tomorrow, but it's definitely worth it to know that my long run for the week is done and I only need to cram in 6 more miles to reach my running mileage goal for the week.

I have some work to do to meet my cycling goal for the week, but Monday's trainer ride put a nice dent in that number as well.

I'm definitely feeling better about my 'accelerated' training plan for Madison. I know I can go the distance, now I just need to work on increasing my speed. 38 days until race day!

Wow... only 38 days? Time sure ticks by fast!! How many miles are you trying to get in on the bike a week then? (Just out of curiosity!)

Sounds like you're doing so well hun! I'm sure the race will go fine... you definitely have the drive and motivation to get this training done!

It's nice that you have a hubby that runs with you. But mine's agreed to get bike so he can ride with me at least. I'm no where near thinking about timing myself!

I'm jealous of your training schedule. LOL Though for someone who's only been running for 6 months, I'm still proud of my 3 miles! haha
