When It Rains, It Pours...

...and then it snows.

This week has been, umm...interesting.  I got a late start to my long run.  I may or may not have been stalling because I had to run on the indoor track due to pouring rain), so I was only able to cram in 13 miles instead of the 15 I planned.  Hey, it was either that or be late to my dad's birthday dinner!

Distance: 13.0 miles
Time: 2:20
Avg. Pace: 10:46 (eew!)

Dinner was pretty standard (and filled with fried eggplant and greasy pizza) and it was still raining when Mr. Furball and I got home.  That's where the fun ended.

Upon walking in the door we were greeted by a smell that can only be described as "outhouse" emanating from the basement.  When we went to check it out, we were greeted by the sight of the sewer drain backing up all over the laundry room floor.  After a lot of cursing and a midnight emergency visit from a plumber, the problem ceased.  Of course we were left with a horrendous (and incredibly foul) mess to clean up.  Guess who had to blow a vacation day to scrub the basement down with bleach and tear out carpeting?  Yep, Mr. & Mrs. Furball.  Obviously, I didn't make it to yoga on Monday night.

Tuesday found me aching (between not taking time to stretch after my long run on Sunday and all the lifting, carrying, scrubbing on Monday) and whining, so I took a day off.

I had plans to run 4 miles last night, but that was derailed by freezing rain, which turned to hail and then snow.  It's the middle of March!  Enough with the snow already!

Fortunately, today was better.  It was still cold, but the snow melted and the 25mph winds had died to a livable 8-10mph.  I piled on my layers and headed out.  I was hoping to get 8 miles in, but was perfectly fine with the 7.44 I got.

Distance: 7.44 miles
Time: 1:12:51
Avg. Pace: 9:47 (much better)

As of right now, my plan is to do another 4-5 miles tomorrow and then rest up for my 16 mile long run on Sunday.  I'm really hoping that the weather cooperates and I can go outside.  I'm so sick of the indoor track (and the constant left turns)!

51 days until Marathon Sunday!

I'm Half Way There...

...Livin' on a Prayer!  Not really, but I'm half way through the 18 week training cycle for the Green Bay Marathon and I'm feeling pretty good.  Over the last few weeks that mileage has really ramped up (duh) and I've been going slightly insane trying to balance work, training and life in general.  Most of my runs have been good and the weather is finally starting to mellow out a little.

This weekend's long run is 15 miles.  Hopefully I'll make it back here to tell you about it!
